The famous comic book superhero may resemble a circus strongman in a leotard and cloak, but muscle is not the only way to be the coolest person in the world. Sometimes the hero draws his strength from magic, terrestrial or alien technology.
The debate about which is the most powerful superhero in the world, among fans, seems to never subside. However, the impartial resource IGN (one of the most respected and major gaming portals) has created the top 100 best comic book heroes (IGN’s Top 100 Comic Book Heroes), which includes superpowered heroes, villains and antiheroes.
Introducing the top 10 most powerful superheroes according to IGN.
10. Daredevil
It is difficult to suspect a blind person that at night he puts on a superhero costume and sets off to fight evil. But that’s exactly what Matt Murdoch, the Devil’s Kitchen attorney, knows all the dark sides of New York. He is one of the few disabled superheroes.
Due to the tragic incident in childhood and thanks to training with Stick, Murdoch’s feelings are incredibly aggravated. He also has radio and echolocation, excellent command of knives and trained in many types of martial arts.
Vulnerabilities: mortal as an ordinary person. It is impossible to calculate how many times Daredevil was defeated or hurt due to gunshot wounds or losing in hand-to-hand combat.
9. The Hulk
Clever men like Batman can rely on tricky technical innovations to defeat their enemies. But the Hulk is not like that. He simply takes and destroys all the bad guys (or the good ones, if they are not lucky to be at hand), using only the power of his fists. And thanks to its invulnerability, the Hulk can crack down on an entire army, no matter people will fight against it or are not humans. He is the most powerful superhero of Marvel and DS, if we take brute physical strength as the main parameter.
The power of the green thug is directly related to how angry he is. Although the alter-ego of the Hulk, Bruce Benner is trying to restrain his anger so as not to turn into a monster, he does not always succeed.
His weakness? Wait until the Hulk turns into a harmless Dr. Bruce Benner and kill him if you can. Although in the movie Avengers, Benner explained that he had once tried to commit suicide, but the Hulk did not allow him to die. Now this could be a problem for the villains of the Marvel Universe.
8. Flash (Wally West)
Flash is not only the fastest person on Earth, it is also able to travel through time and even to other worlds. He does not need huge muscles to change the usual reality in one minute, just by running back to the past. And he almost does not age, which is an unattainable ideal for many other superheroes.
Flash has almost no weaknesses, with the exception of a strong attachment to family and friends. He can fall into the trap if he rushes to save his dear people.
7. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan)
The Green Lantern Corps is an intergalactic police force. The power of each Green Lantern comes from its ring, which "works" on the strength of will, allowing you to transform thoughts into physical objects and structures. These designs, in principle, can be anything, since the power limit of the Green Lantern seems to be limited only by his own imagination.
The strength of the ring also allows Hal Jordan, the first earthly Green Lantern, to travel quickly throughout the universe, understand any language, and survive in any environment.
Minus: the ring needs recharging.
6. Captain America
Captain America, aka Stephen Rogers, is, above all, a military hero who was created to fight Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Given its increased speed, strength, agility and accelerated regeneration, Cap has many advantages, and its indestructible shield can be used for both attack and defense.
However, when it comes to fighting the other superheroes on the list, the Captain doesn't have much of a chance. His battles in Avengers: Confrontation with Iron Man and Spider-Man do not matter much, since both of them tried to detain Cap, and not to kill.
Negative features: it does not have invulnerability (although it is healed faster than ordinary people), it is not "friendly" with modern technologies.
5. Wonder Woman
The only lady on our list of superheroes is not only the most powerful woman in every sense, but one of the most powerful superheroes of all time. She accomplished many incredible feats. For example, Wonder Woman and Superman defeated a divine being known as Spectrum. You can say “well, she didn’t do it alone,” but given that Spectrum is the embodiment of God's wrath, has cosmic power, can grow to the size of a planet and more, it becomes clear that only the greatest superheroes can defeat it .
Diana - this is the real name of Wonder Woman - owns the Lasso of Truth, with the help of which she can make anyone tell the truth. Lasso is so powerful that Wonder Woman once used it to contain an atomic weapon explosion.
And she was able to raise the hammer of Thor, so theoretically the God of Thunder was left without work.
Even Diana can communicate with animals, can fly, is invulnerable to most physical attacks, and has accelerated regeneration. And finally, she is one of the most beautiful female characters in DC Comics.
With all these advantages, Wonder Woman can be injured by bullets or stabbing weapons. The attackers won’t be able to break through the muscle tissue, but Diana’s bleeding wounds will remain.
4. Wolverine
James Howlett, aka Logan, aka Wolverine - a mutant that has fantastically fast regeneration, and superhuman strength and dexterity. It heals instantly from large and small wounds, although with a severe injury (for example, a bullet wound to the head), recovery may take some time.
Its skeleton is covered with indestructible (supposedly) metal adamantium. Various incarnations in comics and on the movie screen make it difficult to see how strong Wolverine is, but it is known that you need to decapitate him and immediately remove his head somewhere far from the body in order to kill this mutant.
Wolverine's bone claws are capable of cutting through flesh and bone, but when they are covered with adamantium, their power increases to such an extent that they can cut through any metals, as well as brick, stone and other hard materials.
In addition, Logan is aging very slowly. He lived back in 1845 and participated in every U.S. military conflict after the Civil War.
Of the shortcomings of Wolverine, one can reverse the sharp, unsociable character and loss of memory of the past.
3. Spider-Man
"Friendly Neighbor" Peter Parker is a superhero close to the people. He does not have the multi-million dollar fortune of Bruce Wayne, he was not born with superpowers like Superman. Until the moment when he was bitten by a radioactive spider, Parker led a quiet and unremarkable life as a teenager and often experienced problems with money. He is a type in which many young men can see themselves.
Thanks to the bite of a spider, Parker acquired many new abilities: amazing dexterity, increased speed, Spider instinct (aka the sixth sense), the ability to move on steep surfaces and release cobwebs from his hands. The Spider-Man's web is so strong that it can hold the Hulk, and thanks to it, Parker can deprive villains and heroes of various objects, which he did with Captain America, tearing the shield from his hands.
Spider-Man was able to withstand the blows of the Hulk and then fought with the green giant, although he lost the battle.
Due to his intelligence, Peter Parker can compare with such recognized superhero geniuses as Tony Stark, Reed Richards and Hank Pym. As a teenager, he created a device that allows him to shoot cobwebs.
Parker's weakness is his physical vulnerability. And his girlfriend is constantly in trouble.
2. Batman
Bruce Wayne is the only one in the ranking who can not boast of any superpower. He does not know how to quickly heal wounds, he does not know how to fly, and he has not even mastered telepathy. Instead, he uses cutting-edge technological innovations to fight evil no less effectively than his Justice League counterparts.
Wayne's high intellect, combined with excellent combat skills and the ability to buy the most “sophisticated” weapons, makes him one of the most dangerous comic book characters for supervillains.
Disadvantages: Batman does not trust anyone, not even himself. He created a dossier on all superheroes (and himself, including), where he listed their strengths and weaknesses, as well as possible ways to destroy them. He is physically vulnerable, despite his protective suit.
1. Superman
Superman is the most powerful superhero in the world. He is invincible (obviously, if Batman doesn’t stuff him with kryptonite bullets), he’s almost as fast as Flash (can fly a thousand times faster than the speed of light), move entire planets and even “fly through a star without noticing it.”
Superman also boasts stunning regeneration, and recovers even after deep wounds. With his breath, he can freeze objects and extinguish fires, and with a cry he crushes diamonds into small crumbs.
Supervision, super hearing, superintelligence ... perhaps the Man of Steel does not have any ability without the prefix "super". He is also charming, like the Greek demigod. Unless in the choice of clothes is not too picky. Who wears underpants over his pants?
